High School Exit Exam
|
Beginning with the class of 2004, public school students must pass the California High School Exit Exam in
order to obtain a valid high school diploma. The test, based upon the English/Language Arts and Mathematics standards adopted
by the State Board of Education, is given to students beginning in their sophomore year. After the first administration of the
test, students have three opportunities each year to pass the test. Students who pass one section of the test do not have to
repeat that section on subsequent exams.
Students who have difficulty passing the exam have many opportunities to remediate deficiencies. Summer School, After School
programs, site tutors, and other programs help students prepare for the exam.
