Courses of Study
|
Board approved courses of study are required for every course taught at every Kern High School District school.
Teachers author the courses, which are written in compliance with the state and District content standards. The courses of study
provide the legal basis upon which instruction is founded. Teachers are required to teach to the course of study.
Each course of study describes the course, including maximum credit to be earned, defines the objectives to be mastered by the
students, lists the texts and other instruction materials used in the course, outlines the course content, and describes the
evaluation procedures for determining grades.
District-wide courses of study are available in many areas. District-wide teacher committees collaborated in the creation of
these courses. There is a continuing effort to write additional district-wide courses. Courses of study are revised on a
three-year cycle. |
