Citizens' Oversight Comittee
Kern County voters approved in November 2004 the Kern High School District's Measure N, a $219 million general obligation school construction bond. District
trustees proposed Measure N in order to fund construction of, among other things, four new comprehensive campuses, modernization efforts at all existing district
schools, and a vocational facility for Special Education students. The new schools and other construction are needed to accommodate strong enrollment growth
expected to take KHSD student enrollment growth from current 35,000 to more than 43,000 in the next seven years.
State law requires that the formation of a Citizens Oversight Committee to ensure that bond funds are properly used. This committee has been formed. Current members include:
- Dave Ewert - Representing Parents/Parent-Teacher Organizations
- Tom Good - Representing Senior Citizen Groups
- Terry Kropp - Representing Community Members
- Tony Marion - Representing Parents/Guardians
- Rolly Rhodes - Representing Community Members
- Tim Rushing - Representing Kern Taxpayers Association
- Dawn Silberberg - Representing Community Members
- Grover Waldon - Representing Parents/Guardians
- Rick Williams - Representing Community Members
The next upcoming meeting is scheduled for March 21, 2012 at 12:00PM at Tierra Del Sol High School. All minutes of Committee meetings will be made available on this website upon adoption.
